Rodolfo Gilbert Pizarro Thomas (born February 15, 1994) is a Mexican footballer who plays as a central midfielder and right midfielder for Guadalajara. [1]

Career

Pachuca

Rodolfo Pizarro rose quickly through the ranks of the Pachuca Youth System beginning there since 2011. Being Mexico's young promises along with former teammates Hirving Lozano and Érick Gutiérrez. Pizarro made his debut on September 14, 2012 coming in on as a substitute in the 71st minute in a 3-2 win over Morelia. He made his first start on October 3. 2012 in a 2-0 loss at Puebla and had become a regular starter ever since.

Guadalajara

Pachuca announced Pizarro was transferred to Guadalajara for a reported $15 million. Pizarro made his debut against Pumas UNAM playing all 90 minutes in which Guadalajara won 2-1. Pizarro scored his first goal for Guadalajara against Monterrey from a long range shot, the game ended 2-2 with Chivas playing with 9 men from the 50th minute due to red cards on José Juan Vázquez and Jair Pereira. He scored another goal against Santos Laguna, who were playing with 10 men equalizing 1-1. He later scored a brace in a 4-3 loss to Chiapas. He scored the first goal of a 1-1 draw against Toluca in the first leg of the Clausura 2017 Semi-Final. Rodolfo scored his sixth goal against Tigres in the first leg of the Clausura 2017 Final. He started the Apertura 2017 season scoring the equalizing goal in a 1-1 draw to Cruz Azul and the following week adding another goal and assist to Ángel Zaldívar in a 2-2 draw against Necaxa.

International career

Mexico U-23

On September 18, 2015 Rodolfo Pizarro was selected by coach Raul Gutierrez to play in the 2015 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship. Mexico went on to win the tournament and qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics as Pizarro was named to the tournament best XI.[2]

Mexico national team

On January 29, 2014 he made his debut for the national team in a friendly game against South Korea where he played the 90 minutes. On September 9, 2014 he played for 78 minutes against Bolivia. Pizarro scored his first goal for Mexico in the 87' minute of the friendly match against Senegal in Miami, Florida on February 10, 2016. He scored his second goal for the national team in a friendly victory over Paraguay. At the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup he scored the winning and only goal in a quarterfinal victory over Honduras.[3]
