RGCTV
RGCTV was a school-run web show that ran on the school's Youtube page from 2012-2016. The show consisted of 4-5 episodes a year, each containing news and future events concerning both the middle and high school as well as skits often related to the theme of the episode. The show was cancelled at the end of the 2015-16 school year, the reasons for which were vaguely explained in the final episode, which was released on May 26, 2016.
Production
The show was produced by Mrs. Gina Hannah's Tech/AV class from 2012-2016. Additional episodes were produced dating back to 2010. These episodes, however, were never released on the school's Youtube page.
Plot
While the show consisted mainly of news reports and skits with little to no continuity, the final episode consisted of a plot that tied all the episodes together and provided an explanation as to why the show was cancelled. It follows the story of the RGCTV crew investigating the strange behavior of students since the release of their latest installment of the series.
The episode begins with Ty, one of the crew members, walking to class. On the way, he is suddenly ambushed by a group of other students exhibiting strange, savage behavior. He manages to escape and get to class, where the rest of the RGCTV team is watching their latest episode. Ty questions them about the strange behavior that students have been displaying since the last episode was released but the others think nothing of it. Their mind is quickly changed when a hooded figure suddenly appears on the screen and tells them that the school is now under his control, "all thanks to [them]." The team decides to find out who the mysterious hooded figure is, and they track him down to the school's tech building. Upon their arrival, the hooded figure explains that ever since RGCTV started, he had secretly been running the show by whispering ideas into the writers' heads from the shadows. He made them place subliminal messages in each episode that over time brainwashed the viewers to his command, and that with the release of the latest episode, all the subliminal messages were in place, completely brainwashing all the students who had seen it. The RGCTV crew, however, grew immune to the shows brainwashing effect due to the long hours they spent editing it, therefore they had to be eliminated. The figure then removes his hood, revealing his identity to be the $10 Wal-Mart Gift Card from the season four Christmas Special, and then orders a group of brainwashed students to execute them. The team escapes and make their way back to the computer room after deducing that the only way to save the students is to re-edit the latest episode and remove the subliminal messages. They manage to re-edit the episode, but before they are able to upload it, they are surrounded by brainwashed students along with the gift card. Fortunately, Santa, also from the Christmas special, barges in and chases off the mob of kids with his sack. The RGCTV team seizes the opportunity and uploads the re-edited episode without the subliminal messages, thus freeing all the brainwashed students from the gift card's control. He vows revenge on them, but is thrown into Santa's sack. Santa promises to give him to some "sucker" as a cheap Christmas gift, "just like [he does] every year." Santa exits, wishing everyone a merry Christmas, even though it's the middle of Spring.
While it's not explicitly stated, it can be inferred that the show was cancelled due to the discovery that it was being used to brainwash the viewers. The credits sequence includes clips from all the previous RGCTV seasons, ending with the message: "This has been RGCTV. Thanks for watching."
