Robert Bondi
Robert J. Bondi (born June 28, 1947) was Putnam County, New York's third County Executive. In Putnam County the County Executive also serves as the Chief Budget Officer of the county.
Bondi was elected to the new County Legislature in November 1979 and was its first Chairman, in 1980 and 1981. He held the office of County Legislator (representing the Town of Carmel) for six terms before being elected County Executive in Nov. 1990. Bondi served five terms as County Executive before retiring from public service at the end of 2010. Bondi was also elected as President of the New York State Association of County Executives.
Bondi received a Ph.D from New York University in Economics. Prior to his governmental service, Bondi was employed at Western Connecticut State University where he served as the Chairman of the Finance Department and was a tenured professor in the Ancell School of Business Administration. Previous positions held include Assistant Dean of Iona College and Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Business of New York University.
Bondi has been married to his wife Marylou since 1972 and they have two children.
