Robbie Boyd is a singer, songwriter and musician from London, United Kingdom.
This British singer/songwriter, has performed live on ITV's This Morning twice;[1][2] written a song with the legendary Ray Davies;[3] caught the attention of Sir Tim Rice ,[4] and been regularly aired on Absolute Radio, Xfm [5] and various BBC radio stations including Graham Norton's show on BBC Radio 2.[6]
In 2017 Boyd released his second album Break the Chain.[7] To promote the album he has spent the early part of 2017 on the road. A February tour of several European countries (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland),[8] was followed by an extensive tour of Australia in March and April.[9]
Boyd has always enjoyed performing to audiences around the globe. In previous years he has performed in various European countries [10] and also further afield, including Argentina [11] and Japan.[12] He has been invited to Nashville on more than one occasion to record, perform and write with other musicians.[13][14]
Boyd and his band [15] have supported artists such as McFly,[16] The Feeling [17] and The Kooks.[18] They have played at a number of events and festivals in the UK [19][20] and sold out several headline shows in London including The Borderline,[21] The Barfly [22] and Bush Hall.[23]
Boyd was the first Briton to perform on the roof of London's O2 Arena.[24]
Boyd's songs have captivated a worldwide audience of over 10,000 Facebook fans [25] and more than 500,000 YouTube views.[26]
In 2010, Boyd's musical talents attracted the attention of Sir Tim Rice who included Boyd's songs "Oh Alaska" and "New Hampshire" in his BBC Radio 2 series American Pie.[27][28] The following year, Robbie and his band won the "Alternative" category of Live and Unsigned and were also named London's "Busker of the Year".[29] In 2013 they reached the top 20 of MTV's Brand New for 2013 competition.[30]
Boyd has released a number of singles and EPs, all of which have received positive reviews.[31][32][33][34] In May 2014 he released his debut Album So Called Man which was equally well received.[35][36][37][38]
In 2015 Boyd began writing and performing with several individual female artists including Katey Brooks,[39] Lledra [40] and Persephone.[41]
Boyd plays a number of musical instruments, including the Okinawan sanshin.[42]
