Robbie Abel (born 4 July 1989) is an Australian rugby union player who currently plays as an hooker for the Brumbies in Super Rugby.[1][2] He also represented Perth Spirit in the inaugural National Rugby Championship in 2014.[3][4]
Career
Abel took a two-year hiatus from rugby after leaving high school to undertake a Mormon mission in Western Australia. Upon completion of his duties he linked up with the Brumbies Academy in 2012 and spent 2 years in Canberra which culminated in a brief stint playing for Northland Taniwha in New Zealand's ITM Cup in 2013. He then moved back to Western Australia to become a member of the Western Force extended playing squad ahead of the 2014 Super Rugby season. He didn't make any senior appearances in 2014 but turned out for Perth Spirit in the first ever National Rugby Championship later that year scoring 5 tries in 9 appearances[2] which saw him once again named in the Force EPS for 2015.[1]
