Rizwan Arshad is Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress President for second consecutive term. He won by a huge margin in KPYCC election despite being a political novice. He got ticket to contest for Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore central constituency from INC. However he lost to BJP candidate PC Mohan. On 10th June 2016, he was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council by getting 34 MLA votes. He got 5 extra votes of JD(S) rebel MLAs led by JD(S) MLA Zameer Ahmed.
