Ritten Sport are a professional Italian ice hockey team from Ritten, Italy. The name of the town is Renon in the Italian language. They play in the Alps Hockey League and formerly the Serie A.

History

The club was founded in 1984 under the name SV Renon (Ritten Sportverein). Since 2004, the name has changed to Sport Renon (Ritten Sport) and Ritten Sport Hockey.

The best results in the league for Renon came only in the new millennium. Ritten Sport, who has come close to the title of Champion of Italy on several occasions, lost the title in four finals before they got the win in 2014. However, they have been winning other titles in recent years, also grabbing two Italian Super Cups and an Italian Cup.

Of the four title finals lost before the victory of the tricolor, three were in a row: after the defeat in 2005/06 against Milan Vipers, the Renon lost it in 2007/08 and in 2008/09 the final against the neighboring team of Bolzano and in 2009/10 the final against Asiago Hockey .

After these failures, President Thomas Rottensteiner declared that he had set up a team ready to finally win it Scudetto in the 2012/13 season, but the team only finished fifth in the rankings. In 2013–14, head coach Rob Wilson led the club to winning the Serie A title.
