Ridwan (name)

Ridwan (Arabic: رضوان Riḍwān) means "pleased". According to Hadith, Ridwan is the name of the angel in charge of maintaining Jannah; Heaven or Paradise.


It is also written "Rizwan'" or "Rizvan" or "Ridvan" or "Rıdvan" in Turkish, Bosnian, Indonesian , Malay, Persian, Urdu, Pashto, Tajik, Punjabi, Kashmiri, and other languages heavily influenced by Persian. It is alternatively spelled as "Ridwan" or Riduan in Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia, while "Redouane" is the most common spelling in French. In Bangladesh, the name for al male is "Ridwan" "Rizwan" "Redhwan " "Rezwan" and for a Female "Ridwana". It is also transliterated as Redhwan or Redwan.
