Rest of India cricket team is a First-class cricket team in India.[1][2] The team was officially instituted in season 1959-60 and played its first match on 18 March 1960 against Bombay(Mumbai). The team competes annually against the winner of the Ranji Trophy for Irani Cup, the tournament being forged as to be "The Best vs Best of the Rest". Rest of India has won the tournament 26 times and shared the trophy 1 time with Bombay in season 1965-66.

Other matches

BCCI has named many teams as Rest of India. Such teams have played tour matches against international team and a series of 3 First-class matches Indian national cricket team to raise funds for defence forces in 1971-72.[3] A List A match was organised with the concept of "The Best vs Best of the Rest" played between the winner of 1989-90 Deodhar Trophy West Zone and Rest of India on 2 October 1989.[4]
