The fifteenth season of the American action comedy science fiction animated/machinima web series Red vs. Blue first premiered for Rooster Teeth site sponsors on April 2, 2017. This season focuses on Dylan Andrews, a journalist who is determined to find the truth after a series of attacks result in a galaxy-wide manhunt for the alleged attackers: the Reds and Blues. Like previous seasons, the series is produced by Rooster Teeth Productions and is loosely based in the Halo universe.

Synopsis

A horrific string of violent attacks across space has triggered a galaxy-wide manhunt for the Reds and Blues. One intrepid reporter and her Hollywood-obsessed cameraman set out to expose the truth, determined to find out what really happened to the Reds and Blues. The investigation sets off an adventure filled with familiar faces, unexpected twists, and the exclusive of a lifetime. [1]

Upon entering the facility with a cameraman, she manages to talk her way past two guards and begins her investigation. However; she and her cameraman are caught and arrested. Her boss then tells her that she has at least one week to find any leads on this case. Fails, and she's fired.

The search for the Reds and Blues takes Dylan and Jax to the crashed remains of Project Freelancer. While Dylan struggles to justify her continuing search against a lack of progress, a break in the story finally comes in unexpected visitors. The unexpected visitors being the Reds and Blues, as well as the mysterious figure, whom is searching for Lavernius Tucker. When Dylan makes a discovery and informs the person that those weren't the real Reds and Blues, the mystery only grows more.

Dylan’s search concludes on the Planet Chorus, the last known hang out of the Reds and Blues before they vanished and embarked on a galactic crime spree. Stonewalled by an administration that doesn't trust the press, Dylan finds herself going to extreme measures to gain access to Chorus’ important figures. Which involves shooting Jax in the foot. Upon arrival to Chorus' hospital, she meets Dr. Emily Grey, and is soon escorted to Vanessa Kimball, the newly appointed mayor of Chorus. After eventually gaining her trust, Kimball uses Santa to give Dylan the Reds and Blue's current location: A deserted island on an all water planet, as well as a special package.

Investigative Journalist Dylan Andrews sits down with the "notorious" Reds and Blues to finally hear the full story of their actions since Chorus (Spoiler: It's the Reds and Blues, obviously). During their stay on their new home, the Reds and Blues build homes- soon burnt down by Donut, discover dinosaurs- soon befriended by Caboose, Sarge builds an army of robots- who then fight the dinosaurs, and Grif discovers mushrooms that cause him o go hysterical. Once everything has been said and calmed, Dylan then shows a message from an old friend: Church.

The message sent by Kimball spurs the Reds and Blues into immediate action. Tucker and Caboose leap to the rescue, while Carolina and Wash urge caution and patience. Meanwhile, Red Team gets weird. After the discovery of the message, the Blood Gulch Crew spring into action, prompting them to go to the location of the signal. However; Grif quits, saying he's had enough of either shooting people or getting shot at.

The Reds and Blues travel with Dylan to an abandoned planet, where they investigate one of the transmission sources. The planet gives them an uncomfortable feeling, and soon run into the mysterious figure hunting down Tucker. Unfortunately, he turns out to be nothing more than a Lawyer for Chorus, and tells Tucker he owes numerous child support bills. Meanwhile, someone that appears to be Sarge sends a transmission to what appears to be a look-alike of the Blood Gulch Crew.

The Reds and Blues find themselves at a location that appears to be a replica of Blood Gulch. They then meet the Blues and Reds, the group responsible for the terrorist attacks on the UNSC. After a brief explanation and a Firefight with some UNSC Scouts, the Blues and Reds tell the Reds and Blues that the UNSC is targeting anyone who has ties to Project Freelancer. This includes any and all Sim Troopers.

The Reds and Blues get to know the Blues and Reds better, and discover a familiar face among their ranks: Doc. After a brief tour the Reds and Blues decide to get comfortable, and make allies with these people. Meanwhile, Dylan and Jax don't quite trust these oddball look-alikes and decide to dig a little deeper. Wash and Carolina arrive on an island, home to an old friend.

Carolina and Wash follow the trail of the missing Freelancers, and discover the truth about the disappearances. Upon arrival to an island, they discover that their old Freelance buddy, Illinois, had finally settled on his dream home: a Bar by the beach, and a little red sailboat floating in the ocean. They share a tender moment, and are soon met with the Reds and Blues, who then introduce them to Temple and the copycat Sim Troopers. However; when Carolina and Wash discover what has happened to all their friends, it is too late, as Temple presses a button and traps them in Armor Lock, leaving them to die a slow and painful death.

Dylan decides to do some investigating while Jax helps Sarge at his chance of stardom. Dylan arrives in a room with a computer and uses V.I.C. to search for info. She then comes across a horrifying discovery and is soon caught by Temple. Afterward, Jax is captured after he attempts to pretend to not be aware of Dylan's current work.

Temple explains his and the rest of the Blues and Reds backstories to Dylan and Jax. They were stationed where they stand today, playing a non-stop capture the flag. However; Bif (A look-alike of Grif) and Temple, revealed to be childhood friends, share a beer one night. Bif explains he never wanted to be a part of the war, and wants to go home to his wife and new-born son. So, they make an agreement to somehow send Bif home on Medical Discharge due to an 'accident'. However, fate has other plans.

Temple continues explaining his story, and how his hatred towards Project Freelancer and the UNSC was born. It all started when Agents Carolina and Texas were sent to defend their respective bases, playing along to this 'capture the flag'. However, Carolina and Tex's rivalry soon escalates quickly, resulting in Bif's death and Temple's hatred for the Freelancers.

The Reds and Blues begin to suspect their colorful counterparts of sinister designs. After this discovery, the Reds and Blues soon turn on eachother, and are quickly outnumbered. Donut, Sarge, and Doc join the Blues and Reds, while Tucker, Simmons, Lopez, and Caboose are quickly outnumbered and jailed.

What has Grif been up to ever since he quit the Reds and Blues? Ever since Grif was left behind, he makes volleyball versions of his friends, and thinks he starts to hallucinate when he sees Locus. However; Locus is very real, and tells Grif he found Lopez drifting in space, and warns him his friends are in grave danger.

Grif returns; the gang learns the hard truth about a lost teammate. Grif's attempt at a rescue goes... weird. Meanwhile, Wash and Carolina are rescued by Locus, whom explains has changed his ways, and now refuses to kill.

Free from their confinement; Carolina, Wash and Locus make plans for the gang's escape. Sarge struggles with difficult orders, but ultimately frees the captured Reds and Blues. After discovering Wash and Carolina are incapacitated due to being in Armor Lock for so long, Locus teams with the Reds and Blues in plotting their escape. Unfortunately, Tucker is extremely furious at Temple manipulating them, and starts a firefight. Wash, still under the effects of Armor Lock exposure, aimlessly wonders into the middle of the firefight and gets shot.
30018"Desolation"9:54July 30, 2017 (2017-07-30)
The Reds and Blues are shaken in the aftermath of their daring escape that resulted in Wash being gravely injured. Locus takes him to get medical treatment. Dylan phones a friend for answers about Loco's crazy machine, who discovers that it is nothing more than a simple drilling mechanism. However; that doesn't mean it could be deadly, as the Blues and Reds plan on using it to destroy the UNSC where their home base is: Earth.
