Razia Sultana (politician)

Razia Sultana is an Indian politician, a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Malerkotla constituency. She is the only Member of the Legislative Assembly from this constituency,[1] and the only Muslim member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.[2] she has selected 3 times for Punjab assembly in 2002, 2007 and 2017. Sultana is state minister from Indian national Congress.[3] She beat her own brother Muhammad Arshad (Aam Aadmi Party) in 2017 Punjab assembly elections.

Personal life

Razia Sultana born in a middle class Muslim Gujjar family in Malerkotla. she is the wife of IPS officer Muhammad mustafa IPS DGP Punjab. The couple have 2 children

Political career

In early 2000, she joined active politics of Punjab in the leadership of Amarinder Singh in Indian National Congress she contest in Punjab assembly election from Malerkotla in 2002 and she won with a good lead. she selected second time in 2007 for Punjab assembly. in 2012, she was unsuccessful to won the seat but in 2017 she lead the seat again from Malerkotla. She beat her own brother Muhammad Arshad (Aam Aadmi Party) in 2017 Punjab assembly elections. Sultana is state minister from Indian national Congress
