The palm rat (Rattus palmarum) is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. It is found only in the Nicobar Islands, on Car Nicobar and Great Nicobar islands.

The palm rat's natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. Palm rats are also commonly referred to as "citrus rats" or "black rats" by many people in the Southeastern United States, especially Florida.
