Ratna (रत्न) (also Rathna or Rathan) is a Sanskrit term for "jewel".[1] It is a popular female Hindu name. The name Ratna is common in South Asia – India, Nepal and Sri Lanka which have significant Hindu populations, and also in Southeast Asia – Indonesia and Thailand. The variant of this name, Rathan, is used among South Indians. The name is also used in the South Asian/Indian diaspora, for example Fiji Indians, South African Indians, Mauritian Indians, Indian Americans, Indian Canadians etc.
