Ranilug (on Serbian, Ранилуг) or Ranillug (on Albanian, Ranillugu), is a town and municipality located in the District of Gjilan of Kosovo.[lower-alpha 1] The municipality comprises 12 villages and as of 2014 has a population of 3,835.

Infrastructure

One municipal health centre as well as five health houses operate in the municipality. In 2011 a new police station was inaugurated. The police force is composed of ten Albanian and ten Serb officers.

The education system of the municipality consists of one kindergarten, two primary and two secondary schools.[1]

  1. 1 2 Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. The Republic of Kosovo unilaterally declared independence on 17 February 2008, but Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. The two governments began to normalise relations in 2013, as part of the Brussels Agreement. Kosovo has received formal recognition as an independent state from 111 out of 193 United Nations member states.
