Ranabir Singh Thapa (Nepali: रणवीर सिंह थापा) was Nepalese Army General and Acting Mukhtiyar (PM) of Nepal.[2] was the Commander of the Makwanpur-Hariharpur axis during Anglo-Nepalese war. He was also brother of Bhimsen Thapa.[3] In 1871 BS (1814 AD) he was deputed to Makwanpur to command the troops. He was leading a 4000 soldiers against Major General Marley and Major General Woods. They were lured to major killing area by Ranabir Singh but Maj. Gen. Woods did not advance from Bara Gadhi. [3] After the war he became the administrator of Palpa and the general of Kalibash and Sabuj battalion.

He was appointed chief member at the Royal Palace to keep observation on the King and Queen.[4][1] He was later made Acting Mukhtiyar in the absence of his brother Mukhtiyar Bhimsen Thapa.[2] After long political instability was going on, Ranbir Singh gave up all his property and became a sanyasi, titling himself Swami Abhayananda.[5][6]
