The black-backed thornbill (Ramphomicron dorsale) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland.
