Rai Hassan Nawaz (Urdu: رائے حسن نواز) is a Pakistani politician and former Member of Parliament of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf from Chichawatni's Constituency NA-162. He is currently a senior member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Political career

He began his political career in Chichawatni and was elected Chairman of MC Chichawatni in 1985. He then contested in the Pakistani general election, 1988 and was elected as MPA. He subsequently was elected as MPA in 1990 and 1997 as well. In 2001, he contested in the local body elections and became the DistrictNazim of District of Sahiwal. He continued as District Nazim after winning in the 2005 local body elections. He held the office for two consecutive terms.

In April 2012, he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He was elected as President of West Punjab region in PTI's intra-party elections. In 2013, he contested in the Pakistani general election, 2013 and won the National Assembly seat from his hometown, Chichawatni.

Family

Rai Hassan Nawaz is the youngest child of Rai Muhammad Iqbal. His eldest brother Rai Ahmed Nawaz was elected as MNA in 1985, 1988 and 1997. His second brother, Rai Ali Nawaz was elected as the Chairman of MC, Chichawatni in 1979 and 1983. Rai Ali Nawaz was also elected as MPA of Punjab Assembly and became a Minister. Rai Hassan Nawaz entered politics after the accidental death of his brother, Rai Ali Nawaz.[1] Rai Hassan Nawaz resides in Chichawatni, a tehsil of Sahiwal.
