Raghunath "Bhausaheb" Chitale (22 October 1920 – 20 March 2016)[1] was an Indian businessman and founder of the Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale.[2] He was best known for popularizing the Maharashtran version of the popular snack bakarwadi.[3]
Chitale founded the premier Pune store of the Chitale Bandhu Mithaiwale in Sadashiv Peth, Pune in 1950,[4] after taking the business over from his father in 1941.[5] He was head member of the governing council of the Shikshan Prasarak Mandali for 12 years. He was the founder member of the Rotary Club of Pune South as well as the Chitpavan Sangh, the Janata Sahakari Bank, Grahak Peth in Pune and the Maharashtra Medical Foundation.[6]
Chitale died after being chronically ill on 20 March 2016 in Pune.[7][8]
