Founded in 1948 as Rapid Metal Developments Ltd, as a subsidiary of Robert M Douglas Ltd,, the company received the Queens Award to Industry in 1975. R M Douglas was acquired by Interserve in 1991 and after Interserve's acquisition of Kwikform UK operations were transferred to RMD Kwikform in 1999.
In 2010, RMD Kwikform was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise.
