Quinlan Independent School District

Quinlan Independent School District is a public school district based in Quinlan, Texas (USA).

In addition to Quinlan, the district serves the towns of West Tawakoni and Hawk Cove, most of Union Valley, as well as rural areas in southern Hunt County. A small portion of northern Kaufman County also lies within the district. The district covers a total area of 152 square miles (390 km2). The student population is approximately 2,800 (89% Anglo, 9% Hispanic, 1% African-American, <1% Asian, and <1% Native American). QISD has five campuses (two elementary, one middle/junior high school, one high school, and one alternative) as well as various support facilities. QISD's mascot is the panther, and the school colors are blue and white.

In 2010, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

D.C. Cannon Elementary School and C. B. Thompson Middle School are considered to be Recognized campuses by the TEA. A.E. Butler Intermediate School posted the highest scores in its history falling just short of the Recognized rating and is considered Academically Acceptable. W.H. Ford High School is considered Academically Acceptable. Over the past two years from 2008-2010, the district improved 18% in math and 13% in science TAKS scores. The district improved in every other tested area to account for significant academic gains.
