Queen In-hyun's Man (Hangul: 인현왕후의 남자; RR: In Hyeon-wanghu-ui Namja) is a 2012 South Korean television series starring Ji Hyun-woo and Yoo In-na. The story centers around obscure actress Choi Hee-jin (played by Yoo In-na, in her first leading role)[1][2] who falls in love with Kim Bung-do (played by Ji Hyun-woo),[3][4] a time-traveling scholar from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) who jumps 300 years into the future to the 21st century.[5][6][7]

It was broadcast on cable channel tvN from April 18 to June 7, 2012 on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 23:00 for 16 episodes.

Year 1694, Joseon Dynasty: Kim Bung-do (Ji Hyun-woo) is a noble-born scholar and his family's sole survivor after they were massacred in a conspiracy. Kim Bung-do supports the reinstatement of Queen In-hyun, who was deposed due to scheming by royal concubine Lady Jang.

Year 2012, modern-day Seoul: Choi Hee-jin (Yoo In-na), an unsuccessful actress, lands her big break when she is cast as Queen In-hyun in the television drama "New Jang Heebin". Due to a mysterious talisman, Kim Bung-do time travels to 2012, where he crosses paths with Choi Hee-jin and falls in love.

Reel to real-life romance

On June 7 after the last broadcast, the production held a special fan meeting to celebrate the ending of the drama. During the cast interviews, Ji Hyun-woo made a surprise public declaration that he was in love with co-star Yoo In-na, shocking fans and press alike.[11][12] This sparked a media frenzy in the following days,[13][14][15][16] during which their agencies remained mum on the issue and the two stars lay low,[17][18] except for a reassuring message to his fans that Ji posted on Twitter on June 11.[19][20] After gossip website Sportsseoul.com photographed the couple together on a midnight date at a park in Bundang, Gyeonggi, where Yoo lives,[21][22] Yoo confirmed their relationship on her radio show the next day, June 18. She said, "We decided that he will stop being In-hyun's Man and instead, start being Yoo In-na's Man."[23][24]
