Curriculum and academic performance
Circa the 1990s/2000s the school focused on preparing the students for university admittance in foreign countries since there was not enough space in the University of Macau to accommodate all of the Macau students who wished to study there. As a result the students had large course loads. As of that period more than 90% of the school's graduates moved on to tertiary academic institutions.[3]
Circa 2009 Clayton stated that the school was known for making its students learn about the history of Macau a creative manner,[2] but it did not directly teach such history.[3] Chan Jileung (陳子良) and Wong Chao Son (黃就順), Pui Ching history and geography teachers,[2] cited several reasons: the lack of a textbook about Macau history,[4] the fact that such knowledge did not factor into the admissions processes of foreign universities, the already high course loads faced by students, and political sensitivities.[3]
