Psycho-Nics Oscar (in American arcades usually shortened to Oscar) is an arcade game released by Data East in 1987.[1]
Gameplay
Psycho-Nics Oscar is a 2D platform-scrolling shooter. The player controls a mecha named Oscar. The extra weapon system is similar to Gradius.[1]
Reception
Psycho-Nics Oscar got an overall rating of 7/10 by Power Play a German video games magazine. They saw the game in the tradition of Ghosts 'n Goblins, mentioned the unusual three fire bottoms and rated the gameplay as very good.[2]
Legacy
The game influenced the design of Turrican, which was released in 1989 and featured a more European aesthetic.[1][3]
