Prostitution in Malaysia

Solicitating for the purpose of prostitution is illegal in Malaysia (Section 372B Criminal Code). Demand for prostitution has created a problem of people trafficking from China, Vietnam,[1][2] and other nearby countries.[3][4][5] Many of the prostitutes in Malaysia from China are from ethnic minorities like the Dai from Yunnan.[6] Sexual services, however, are widely available and laws banning prostitution remain largely unenforced.[7][8][9] Malaysia is a recipient of Vietnamese prostitutes.[10]
