Promoter (role variant)

The Promoter Artisan is one of the 16 role variants of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter,[1] a self-assessed personality questionnaire designed to help people better understand themselves. David Keirsey originally described the Promoter role variant; however, a brief summary of the personality types described by Isabel Myers contributed to its development. Promoters correlate with the ESTP Myers-Briggs type.[2]

Overview

Promoters are tactical operators, concrete in speech and utilitarian in action. In social situations, they are directive and expressive.[2] Promoters are the most adept among the types at maneuvering other people to their position. They make a point of getting to know those in positions of influence. Promoters are also resourceful, knowing where the fun and the action are. They like to indulge themselves in the finer things in life and to bring other people with them. Their goal in life is to sell themselves and their ideas to others. Dramatic and debonair, they are gifted at earning others' confidence.[1]

Notable Promoters

According to Keirsey,[1] Madonna may be a Promoter.

For illustrative purposes, Keirsey and his son, David M. Keirsey,[3] have identified well-known individuals whose behavior is consistent with a specific type. Type and Temperament are models of individuals. Unless otherwise noted, the categorization of the individuals below, whether living or dead, as Promoters is a matter of expert opinion rather than the result of the named individual taking a personality type inventory.
