Prateek Kuhad is a Delhi based Indian singer-songwriter better known for his Indie style and bilingual music. He was born and raised in Jaipur. Kuhad moved to United States to pursue Maths and Economics from New York University. He won Best Indian Act award at EMA'16.[1]

Early life and background

Kuhad was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan and has two sisters. He learned to play guitar at age of 16 and started song-writing in late teens. He studied Maths and Economics at NYU before moving to Delhi to pursue a full-time career in music.[2]

Career

Kuhad gained some recognition with his single 'Raat Raazi' in early 2013. He went on to release his debut album 'Raat Raazi' in mid 2013 and his second album 'In Tokens & Charms' in early 2015.[3] He worked on song 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan' alongside Jasleen Royal for Bollywood movie Baar Baar Dekho in 2016.[4] In the same year, Ankur Tewari and Prateek Kuhad collaborated to release song 'Dil Beparwah' for MTV India's The Dewarists. Kuhad won MTV EMA's best Indian act award in 2016.[5]

Personal life

Kuhad is currently based in New Delhi but spends most of his time performing live across country and world.[6] He worked in a consulting firm before pursuing music. Kuhad expressed his uncertainty towards music as a professional career in an interview with newspaper Mid Day.[7]
