Pocket 808
Pocket 808 is the production moniker of Australian dance music producer Sameer Sengupta. He is an ARIA Award Nominated and multi-platinum selling artist, producer, mixer and mastering engineer, currently residing in Los Angeles, California.
Musical Career
Sameer is an accomplished mixdown and mastering engineer who's works have garnered over 1 billion streams globally.
His mixing & mastering credits include: Matoma, Alison Wonderland, The Aston Shuffle, Pnau, Hook N Sling, The Potbeleez, Kilter, Havana Brown, Faker, Paul Mac, Elizabeth Rose, and Lithuania's Eurovision artists.
Sameer discovered drums and synthesisers at a young age leading to his first release after co-founding Sydney band Southend in 1992, through Australian label Volition Records.
In 1995 he left to pursue a solo recordings under the name Pocket, with releases on Thunk Recordings and Global Underground.
In 2003 he collaborated with Sydney DJ Ken Cloud to form Poxymusic and released a number of 12" singles on Ministry of Sound Australia. In 2004 they were a feature artist on the compilation CD Clubber's Guide to 2004. For their release of the song She Bites.[1] the received a nomination for Best Dance Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 2007. Their 2003 reworking of La La Land by Green Velvet, in collaboration with Kid Kenobi, won Best Remix at 2003's Australian Dance Music Awards.[2]
They continued to release the album "Proximo" on Ministry of Sound in 2011, which is a mix of dub, rock and hip hop and they feature guest vocalists on their tracks. Singers have included Phil Jamieson and Nathan Hudson.[3]
In 2011 he joined Sydney's Studios 301 as a house engineer.
In 2016 he relocated to pursue music projects in Los Angeles, California.
