List of research stations in the Arctic
A number of governments maintain permanent research stations in the Arctic and these bases are widely distributed. Historically many research stations, also known as Arctic bases or Polar stations, were temporary, while only a few are permanent. Some of these research facilities are constructed on land or on ice that rests on land, while others are drifting ice stations built on the sea ice of the high latitudes of the Arctic Ocean.[1]
