Plainfield High School (abbreviated PHS) in Plainfield, Indiana. It is a public high school located within the Plainfield Community School Corporation.
History
The school's mascot, the Quaker, is a tribute to Plainfield's Quaker founders.[1] Many of the churches in the Plainfield area are Quaker churches, including the oldest Quaker church in Plainfield, the Friendswood Church. The schools system recently opened the new $103 million high school, completing the system wide school shuffle.[2] The school was the last school in the state to have built a new school without voting with the town, causing a tax increase in the area.
In 2005 Scott Olinger became the principal of Plainfield High. In 2008 he became the superintendent of the Hendricks County school system, causing him to leave his position at Plainfield High.[3]
In March 2008, PHS hosted then-democratic candidate for president Barack Obama as he spoke during his run for presidency.[4]
Academics
The Plainfield school system is the first school system in the state to have all of their public schools receive the national four star school award three years in a row.[2] Over 82% of graduates go on to college after high school.[2]
Fine arts
Plainfield High School has two show choirs, Belles et Beaux which is the mixed show choir and Femmes Fatales which is the women's show choir.[5]
Athletics
Plainfield is a part of the Mid State Conference. They compete under the name "Quakers" (or Lady Quakers) and the school colors are scarlet and royal blue. The following IHSAA sports are offered at Plainfield (Unless marked there are separate boys and girls teams):[6]

- Del Harris - Current Vice-President of the Texas Legends of the NBA Development League. Former head coach of the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA. Former assistant coach for various NBA teams, including the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks, Chicago Bulls and New Jersey Nets.[10]
- James Hurst - Current NFL offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens[11]
- Jason Pociask - Former NFL fullback and tight end for various teams, including the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks and the Dallas Cowboys. Pociask also played one season for the Florida Tuskers of the UFL.[12][13]
