PiYo

PiYo is an 8 week exercise program that is a blend of Pilates and Yoga.[1][2][3] Developed by American fitness guru Chalene Johnson as part of Beachbody, PiYo is a low-impact workout that strengthens and sculpts the body, and enhances flexibility. The Pilates part strengthens and tones the body, while the Yoga part promotes mindfulness and relaxation.[4] As such, PiYo provides a total mind-body workout.

Chalene Johnson

Chalene Johnson is an American entrepreneur, fitness authority, business and lifestyle expert, New York Times bestselling author[5] and also a motivational speaker. She got into business at the young age of 13 when she would buy and sell used cars. Fitness was always a part of her life, and in the early 90's, after college when she moved to California to work as a paralegal, she taught kickboxing as a side job.[6] Eventually she began developing home workout fitness programs under Beachbody, including programs like TurboKick, TurboJam, ChaLEAN, TurboFire, and PiYo.

PiYo Workout

PiYo is a high-intensity home fitness workout that takes elements from Pilates and Yoga, as well as from athletic stretching, bodyweight training, and cardio conditioning to create a program that provides strength, stretch, and flexibility. PiYo was created out of a need for people who want to work on their flexibility, but also wanted to get more out of it in terms of strength and cardio. It is purely all bodyweight exercises, and the program helps to improve balance and posture while sculpting a flexible and toned body.[7][8] The eight-week workout plan, is supplemented by a nutrition guide, and a PiYo/Focus T25 Hybrid calendar.
