Phantom Thread is an upcoming American drama film, set in London's fashion world in the 1950s, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Lesley Manville, Richard Graham, and Vicky Krieps.[2] It is reportedly Daniel Day-Lewis's final performance in a film, following four decades in the profession.[3] The music will be composed by longtime Anderson collaborator and Radiohead member Jonny Greenwood. The film is set to be released on December 25, 2017.[4]

In the couture world of 1950s London, Charles James is commissioned to design for members of high society and the royal family.

On June 2, 2016, it was announced that Paul Thomas Anderson would direct a fashion drama film set in 1950s New York from his own script, with Daniel Day-Lewis attached as star.[5] Megan Ellison would produce the film through Annapurna Pictures, along with JoAnne Sellar and Anderson.[5][8] On September 8, 2016, the film was picked up to be distributed by Focus Features stateside and Universal Pictures internationally.[9] Late January 2017, Lesley Manville, Richard Graham, and Vicky Krieps were also cast in the film.[7][6]

Principal photography on the film began in late January 2017 in Lythe, England.[10][8] Filming also occurred in spring 2017 in the London neighbourhood of Fitzrovia, in Fitzroy Square, and a car chase scene in Grafton Mews.[11]
