Pelayo Novo García (born 1 November 1990), known simply as Pelayo, is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for Romanian club CFR Cluj as a midfielder.

Club career

Born in Oviedo, Asturias, Pelayo began playing with hometown's Real Oviedo, spending his first three full seasons as a senior in the third division. In his last, he scored seven goals in 34 games (2,749 minutes of action) to help the team finish in sixth position.

On 6 July 2012, Pelayo signed a three-year contract with Elche CF in the second level.[1] He made his official debut on 19 August, coming on as a substitute for Carles Gil in the dying minutes of a 4–2 home win against SD Ponferradina;[2] on 6 October he netted his first goal in the league, helping to a 2–1 success at CD Mirandés.[3]

In July 2013, Pelayo signed a new two-year deal with the Valencian club, being immediately loaned to Córdoba CF.[4] On 29 July of the following year, he moved to CD Lugo also in division two and in a temporary deal.[5]

In mid-June 2017, immediately following Elche's relegation, 26-year-old Pelayo moved abroad for the first time in his career, joining Liga I's CFR Cluj.[6]
