Patrick Ballantyne

Patrick Ballantyne is a Windsor-born Canadian songwriter, guitar player and singer ^[1] based in Oakville, Ontario.

Life

Patrick was born in Windsor, ON.^[2] He is a lawyer and songwriter who now lives in Oakville, ON.^{[3] [4][5] [6]}

Career

Started writing with Gordie Johnson in the 1980s ^[7] and has also written with Colin MacDonald of The Trews,^[8] Meredith Shaw ^[9] ,^[10] Tim Chaisson,^[11][12][13] and Shane Chisholm ^[14][15]

Patrick has performed at the Toronto Centre for the Arts^[16] as part of the Bare Bones and Up Front Series.^[17]

Although most frequently associated with co-writing with the likes of Gordie Johnson ^[19] and Big Sugar,^[20] The Trews,^[21] and Tim Chaisson,^[22] Patrick released his debut solo album in 2008.^[23] It garnered the attention of music industry icon Ron Harwood, who placed it in top 5 independent releases of the year.^[24]

Days of Rain

Released in June 2014.^[25] The release show was held at Musideum in Toronto.^[26] The album differs from the fist album in that it has more instrumentation (piano and string) than the first release^[27]

• The title track "King of the Road" was co-written with Meredith Shaw and Gordie Johnson. The song originally appeared in a different incarnation on Meredith Shaw's EP "Place Called Happy".^[28]
• The lyric video for "Wrestling with the Devil" was featured by Snob's Music as a Friday Find ^[29] and as a Mute Music Moment of the Day ^[30]
• Re-released January 2015 under Northwood Records' label

Hit A Month

In 2015, Patrick Ballantyne started the sardonically titled "hitamonth.com" project, aiming to release a single every month for the year.
