Besides Palm Springs, other nearby communities include Bermuda Dunes, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Mecca, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and the Salton Sea. Filming location

One of the first significant films shot in Palm Springs was Frank Capra's 1937 Lost Horizon, with scenes filmed in Tahquitz Canyon.[71][nb 24]
