P. E. Thomas (Pulinat Ettan Thomas) is an entrepreneur, investor and founder of Merchem[1] Limited and Grove Limited. Thomas was born in Mannoor, Perumbavoor, Kochi, India to Varkey Ettan Pulinat and Annamma Ettan.

In 1980, P. E. Thomas founded Merchem,[2] a specialty chemical manufacturing unit as a start-up near Perumbavoor, Kochi India. Merchem has developed specialty chemicals over the years especially for rubber-processing industry. Merchem has three state-of-art plants in India and is predominantly serving the rubber processing industry including Tyre, Non- Tyre, pharma, agro and water treatment industries across the globe. The manufacturing plants are situated in Eloor, Edayar (both in Kerala) and Panoli in Gujarat.

Thomas[3] diversified his business in to snack foods[4] and information technology. He obtained the patent[5] for crinkled cut Cassava chips and Banana chips and introduced the first crinkled cut banana and cassava chips. He was instrumental for conceiving the idea for a software product called Ultima[6] developed by Grove Limited. Thomas is an alumnus of trained entrepreneurs from Japan.

P.E Thomas was awarded[7] for the excellence in export[8] from Ministry of external affairs. He was also awarded for excellence in Manufacturing[9] (Excellence in Business-Yuva 2010)[10] by Times group in 2010.
