Otters Club
Otters Club, established as a sporting institution during its inception in 1973, is one of the premier clubs[1] in the city of Mumbai, India. Located near the popular Jogger's Park on Carter Road, Bandra, it is a members-only club that continues to follow the traditions set by its founder : emphasis on sport, especially swimming and squash.
The club is housed on a generous outcrop of land jutting out into the Arabian Sea, with a retaining wall that has a steep drop into the sea below. A landscape full of shrubs and palm trees, the soothing sound of waves below and a delicately cool breeze blowing in from the sea come together to create a charming ambience.
The club counts many Indian celebrities as its members, including, amongst others, Gauri Khan, Salman Khan & family, Sameera Reddy, Raveena Tandon, Sharman Joshi, Ranveer Singh[2] and Ritesh Sidhwani. Its first president was veteran Indian actor Dilip Kumar.
The club's Swimming and Squash Departments have produced many athletes who have gone ahead to represent India at the international level. Emphasis on excellence continues, and so does its tradition of churning out the best sportspersons year-after-year.[3][4] A number of sport meets are held in its swimming pool, squash courts,[5] Bridge and Billiards rooms.
With state-of-the-art Gymnasium and Cardiovascular facilities, a volleyball court, exhaustive libraries and two great restaurants, Otters Club remains one of the most exclusive social addresses in Mumbai.
