Omphghent Township is located in Madison County, Illinois, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,381 and it contained 1,021 housing units.[2]

History

Omphghent took its name from a church that stood near the home of the first permanent settler.[3]

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 33.99 square miles (88.0 km2), of which 33.55 square miles (86.9 km2) (or 98.71%) is land and 0.44 square miles (1.1 km2) (or 1.29%) is water.[2]
