Olde English District

The Olde English District is one of eleven tourism districts[1] of South Carolina encompassing Chester, Chesterfield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, and York counties as well as the cities and towns of Camden, Chester, Chesterfield, Clover, Kershaw, Lancaster, Pageland, Rock Hill, Winnsboro, and York.

The district is not a historical one. It was created in 1976 by the state legislature in order to create and improve tourism, recreation and development in the included counties.[2] Its name came about due to the region being settled by the English in the 1770s.[3] The area was the site of a number of Revolutionary War battles including the Battle of Kings Mountain.
