Okinawa Television
Okinawa Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (沖縄テレビ放送株式会社 Okinawa Terebi Hōsō Kabushiki-Gaisha), also known as OTV, is a Japanese broadcast network affiliated with the FNN. Their headquarters are located in Okinawa Prefecture.
History
- November 1, 1959: It was set up first broadcasting station of Okinawa Prefecture. The initial calls were KSDW-TV, on channel 10.
- May 5, 1968: Color transmissions begin.
- May 15, 1972: When the United States returned Okinawa back to Japan, the station moved to channel 8, prompting it to change calls to JOOF-TV. It also adopted Japanese broadcasting standards: the Japanese variant of NTSC and the new frequency.
- December 1, 2006: Digital terrestrial television and 1seg transmissions started (from the Naha main station).
- July 24, 2011: Analog transmissions end.
