Oak Academy (formerly Oakmead College of Technology) is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in the northern outskirts of Bournemouth in southern England.[1] There are 842 students between the ages of 11 and 18.

Previously a foundation school administered by Bournemouth Borough Council, in December 2012 Oakmead College of Technology converted to academy status and was renamed Oak Academy. the school is now part of the LeAF Academy Multi Academy Trust, however it continues to coordinate with Bournemouth Borough Council for admissions.

In September 2012 the school was the temporary location of the new LeAF Studio before the studio school was relocated to its own building in September 2013.[2]

Buildings

The school is divided into blocks A and B (the original girl's and boy's schools).

Block A contains the majority of the core curriculum classes: English, maths and science. It also contains an assembly hall (hall A), a playground (for years 9, 10 & 11), the sports hall, 1 IT room, 6 science labs, and RAISE.

Block B contains classes for such as geography, RE, history, IT, business studies, dance, drama, music and DT. There are 5 DT rooms — one food technology room, one resistant materials rooms, graphics room and an electronics room. 3 IT rooms and two MFL (modern foreign language) rooms, one music room, one art room, another assembly hall, another playground (for years 7 & 8) and the canteen.
