npj Quantum Information (npjQI) is a peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal reporting advances in the emerging field of quantum information science.
npjQI is published by the Nature Publishing Group and was launched by Australian Education Minister Christopher Pyne,[1] publishing its first articles in October 2015.[2] An article from the second volume (by University of Bristol mathematician Ashley Montanaro)[3] was highlighted in the MIT Technology Review[4] and had been viewed more than 24,000 times by June 2017.[5] On 14 June 2017 npj Quantum Information entered the Journal Citation Reports for the first time as the highest ranked journal publishing new results in the field of quantum information with an impact factor of 9.111.[6][7]
The founding Editor-in-Chief is Professor Michelle Simmons.
Subfields covered by npjQI include quantum computing, quantum communications, quantum information theory, quantum metrology, quantum sensing and quantum cryptography.
Publication
npjQI is an open access, online-only, multidisciplinary journal published by Nature Publishing Group, a division of the international scientific publishing company Springer Nature. It is the first journal published in Australia by Nature Publishing Group, and is published in partnership with the Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology and the University of New South Wales.[8]
npjQI has a green rating from the SHERPA/RoMEO journal publishing policies aggregator.[9]
Abstracting and indexing
npjQI is abstracted and indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals, Science Citation Index Expanded (also known as SciSearch); Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition); and Current Contents (Physical Chemical and Earth Sciences).
