Noel Swaranjit Sen was Director General of Police (DGP) in the state of Andhra Pradesh in south India. His predecessor was S.R. Sukumara.[1] He is currently stationed in India with his spouse Anita Mona Joshua Sen

Professional background

He earlier had a short spell in the Indian Army and then joined the police force. He was Superintendent of Police in Kurnool district. For a long period, he was the Director-General of Fire Services before being elevated to the position of Home Secretary in 2004, succeeding Bharat Chandra. This was during the Chandrababu Government.

After a brief period, he became the Director-General of Police. Setting controversies aside, he spoke out to his police community that his selection was not based on any undue influence but on pure merit.[1]

An expert in tackling Naxalism, he has been invited by other states who have taken police action against the group.[2] A Christian, he has also been active in advocating for minority rights in India[3]
