Nico is the oldest Western lowland gorilla in Europe at 55 years old and is thought to be the second oldest gorilla in the world.[1] Nico lives at Longleat Safari Park, his habitat on Half Mile Lake covers over half an acre and includes lookout stations, tree trunk climbing frames and tyre and net swings.[1]

Nico and his brother Simba came from a zoo in Switzerland in the 1980s, and were given a television to watch during their 6 month quarantine period.[1][2]
