The discography of Nickelback, a Canadian rock band, consists of nine studio albums, two compilation albums, one extended play (EP), 43 singles, five video albums, 32 music videos. Formed in Hanna, Alberta in 1995, Nickelback was originally composed of vocalist and guitarist Chad Kroeger, guitarist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger and drummer Brandon Kroeger.[1] The band self-released its debut EP Hesher and debut full-length album Curb in 1996, and later signed with Roadrunner Records and released The State in 1999.[1] Ryan Vikedal replaced Brandon Kroeger in 1998, after the band spent a brief time with Mitch Guindon on drums.[2] The State reached number 130 on the US Billboard 200 upon its international release in 2000, and Curb reached number 182 on the chart when it was reissued by Roadrunner in 2002.[3] Three singles from The State reached the US Mainstream Rock top 40, including the top ten releases "Leader of Men" and "Breathe".[4]
Nickelback's first new studio album on Roadrunner, 2001's Silver Side Up, was a huge commercial success, topping the Canadian Albums Chart,[5] the UK Albums Chart and more,[6] and reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200.[3] The album was supported by lead single "How You Remind Me", which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[7][8] As of 2014, Silver Side Up had reportedly sold over 10 million units worldwide.[9] The band's first video album, 2002's Live at Home, was certified double platinum by Music Canada and gold by the RIAA.[10][8] The band followed Silver Side Up in 2003 with The Long Road, which topped the Canadian Albums Chart and peaked at number 6 in the US.[5][3] The first single from the album, "Someday", was a Canadian number one and a US top ten release,[11][7] receiving a gold certification from the RIAA.[8] The Videos was certified platinum in both Canada and the United States.[10][8]
After Vikedal was replaced by Daniel Adair, Nickelback released All the Right Reasons in 2005.[12] The album topped the charts in both Canada and the US,[5][3] and to date is the group's highest-selling release with 18 million units sold worldwide, including 10 million in the US marking a diamond certification from the RIAA.[13] Lead single "Photograph" reached number 2 on the US Hot 100,[7] while an additional five singles reached the Mainstream Rock top 40.[4] 2007's The Ultimate Video Collection was certified platinum in Canada and the US.[10][8] Dark Horse, released in 2008, reached number 1 in Canada and number 2 in the US.[5][3] Two singles from the album – "Gotta Be Somebody" and "If Today Was Your Last Day" – both reached the Canadian Singles Chart top ten.[11] Live at Sturgis 2006 was released at the end of the year and was certified gold by the RIAA.[8] Nickelback released its seventh studio album Here and Now in 2011, which was the band's consecutive album to reach number 1 in Canada and the top ten in the UK and the US.[5][6][3]
Nickelback left Roadrunner Records after the release of Here and Now,[14] although the label issued The Best of Nickelback Volume 1 in 2013.[15] The compilation peaked at number 16 in Canada,[5] number 15 in the UK,[6] and number 21 in the US.[3] The band's next studio album No Fixed Address followed the next year on Republic Records. It was the first album since The State not to top the Canadian Albums Chart, peaking at number 2,[5] and the lowest-charting of the band's studio albums since The Long Road, peaking at number 4.[3] "Edge of a Revolution" and "What Are You Waiting For?" reached the Canadian Singles Chart top 40.[11] After signing with BMG Rights Management earlier in the year,[16] the group released Feed the Machine in June 2017. The album debuted at number 2 on the Canadian Albums Chart,[5] number 5 on the Billboard 200 (the lowest since The Long Road),[3] and number 3 on the UK Albums Chart (the highest since All the Right Reasons).[6]
