Nick Choksi (born April 14, 1981) is an American actor, singer, musician, director, and illustrator.

Choksi is best known for playing Dolokhov in the 2012 Off-Broadway and 2016 Broadway productions of the Musical Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812[1][2] as well as Salim in the 2013 Off-Broadway Musical Bunty Berman Presents[3] for which he was nominated for a 2014 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical[4] as well as the 2013 National Alliance for Musical Theatre production of the musical Come From Away.[5] In 2015 he was featured in the World Premiere of Brooklynite![6] at Vineyard Theatre.

On Television he is best known as Vimal Patel on the ABC soap One Life to Live where he appeared in 63 episodes over the course of four years.[7] He also played "Nick" in the 2016 film The Passing Season.[8][9] He also co-wrote and directed the 2012 short film "Fifty Grades of Shay" playing the role of the prospective director, Punjab O'Shaughnessy.[10] The film was selected for the Somewhat North of Boston (SNOB) film festival in 2012.[11] He also appears in the Funny or Die Youtube video "It Doesn't get Better"[12] and in the webseries Webseries: the Webseries.[13][14]

Background

Choksi initially attended Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in English Literature with an acting minor.[15][16] From there he participated in regional theatre in the area and eventually ended up getting a graduate degree at The Juilliard School where he graduated in May 2010[17][18]

Animation and Illustration

At Juilliard, Choksi drew political cartoons and other caricatures for the Juilliard Journal[19] He continues to illustrate and is also learning digital animation, something he has discussed in several interviews.[20][21] He is well-loved by fans at the Great Comet stagedoor for his warm reception to fanart.

Personal life

Choksi is married to the actress Stephanie Wright Thompson and they recently welcomed a baby daughter, something noted by several of his castmates[22]
