Nibunan (English: Expert) is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language neo noir crime thriller film co written, co produced and directed by Arun Vaidyanathan.[1] The film features an ensemble cast of Arjun (in his 150th film), Prasanna, Vaibhav, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Sruthi Hariharan in the lead roles. The film marks the 150th film of Arjun. Featuring music composed by S. Navin and cinematography by Arvind Krishna, the film began production in late 2015. The film was simultaneously in Tamil and Kannada, the latter as Vismaya (English: Amazing) . The film will also be released in Telugu as Kurukshetram. The movie had a grand worldwide release on July 28th and was open to positive reviews. The film Blockbuster at the Box Office

Plot

Nibunan plot includes a devoted as well as intelligent cop Ranjith Kalidoss (Arjun) and his juniors Joseph (Prasanna), and Vandana (Varalaxmi) who go about solving the case of a serial killer. The killer sends a doll to Kalidoss, with the head of a goat on a man's body. The serial killer's first victim is a communist leader, and attaches the head of a Cow on his head. Murderer brutally tortures and murders a lady doctor, politician and lawyer with the masks of lion, bull and tiger. They struggle to track the murderer, but a couple of more murders occur in an alike style, with captivating modus operandi following it. They some way chink things one by one, and at one end, Ranjith finds out who the next victim is going to be. And he has a motive to consider in his theory, which comes as a surprise to his assistants as well as senior officials.

In the meantime, Ranjith undergoes from Parkinsons disease, and it starts taking a toll on his career. His wife (Sruthi Hariharan), daughter, and brother (Vaibhav) is with him to take excellent care. The murderer follows the activities of Ranjith and lineup and is on a killing spree, always parting hint for the next murder. The group lastly goes after a case which was halted a few years ago after they find a connection surrounded by the happenings in the past. It turns out that Ranjith was responsible for handling the case of architect Emmanuel (Suman) who killed his servant (Chetan) for having affair with his daughter and daughter also sacrifices her life. Emmanuel and his wife (Suhasini) commits suicide because of immense pressure from law.

The psychotic killer revealed to be Christopher (Kreshna / Karthik Jayaram), nephew of Emmanuel who has committed all the murders thinking that all of these people were responsible for the death of the couple whom they treated him as his own son. In the end, Ranjith kills Christopher in the same way he had murdered.

In July 2015, director Arun Vaidyanathan announced that he began working on a new action thriller film featuring Arjun in the lead role which would be his 150th film as an actor. He revealed that the film would be based around the adventures of a police officer and it would be filmed in Chennai and Bangalore. Vaidyanathan stated the script had been on his mind for several years, but he only began scripting it from December 2014.[2][3] Umesh, Sudhan and Jayaram of Passion Film Factory, who had earlier made Kappal (2014), agreed to produce the film, while Aravind Krishna and Sathish Suriya were signed as cinematographer and editor, respectively.[4] Actors Prasanna, Vaibhav were signed on to play further leading roles during August 2015. Likewise, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was selected to appear as a police officer and Sruthi Hariharan was signed on to play the wife of Arjun's character.[5][6] The film began production in November 2015 in Bangalore, and was developed under the title of Nibunan.[7][8] The official release date of Nibunan is confirmed as 28th July 2017.[9] [10]

S. Navin had composed the music for the film. Audio rights are acquired by Zee Music Company.
