Nižbor is a municipality and village in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.

A major attraction is the Nižbor glassworks, a Bohemian crystal factory founded in 1903.

History

Until 1918, NIŽBOR - NISCHBURG (German name only until the end of the 19th century) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the RAKONITZ - RAKOVNÍK district, one of the 94 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Bohemia.[1]

Austrian KK stamp cancelled NISCHBURG in 1877

A post-office was opened in 1869.
