Background
The Ndola of Gola Area Development Association (NGADA) is a development area located in Taraba State, Nigeria. Its capital is Sunkuru.
NGADA is a region overlapping with five local government areas, including Bali, Donga, Gashaka, Kurmi and Sardauna with a population of over 34,000 as of a 2011 census conducted by Ndola of Gola Area Development Association. NGADA was formed to unify the Ndola living in the five local government areas to pursue development together. It was formed by Rev. Joseph Nagombe Titus in January 2006 through the work of the Mambila Baptist Convention.[1][2][3]
History
NGADA is an acronym for Ndola of Gola Area Development Association which was created by His Excellency, Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku on 21 September 2016. The Association was created from the activities of Ndola of Gola Area Development Association which is an umbrella Association formed and headed by Rev. Nagombe Joseph Titus. The aim of this Association was to unite the Ndola ethnic group who were scattered across five different local governments in Taraba State, Nigeria, due to improper boundary demarcation which occurred some years ago, and to focus more attention on the forgotten Ndola people. The aim was achieved when the Governor of Taraba State ascended to an Order Act seeking for the creation of NGADA Special Development Area by the Taraba State House of Assembly.[4]
The majority of the identified one hundred and sixteen (116) villages under this development area are all located in mountainous areas. Traveling from one village to another is difficult as there are no motorable roads but only foot paths. These people were first visited or discovered by Her Excellency Barr, Anna Dickson Darius, wife of the Executive Governor of Taraba State.[5] Yet, the indigenous Ndola people are very much comfortable with living in the area, because they have lived here for ages.
