Newton Emerson

Newton Emerson is a political commentator in Northern Ireland. He describes himself as a liberal unionist'.[1] He writes in two newspapers, the Sunday Times, and The Irish News. He also contributes to The Irish Times.[2]

He first came to prominence as writer of the "Portadown News" website, similar to American publication, "The Onion". After being 'outed' by the Andersonstown News, he was forced to leave his job at a computer company,[1] but maintained the website until 2005.[3] In 2008 he presented the documentary named Lost City of Craigavon which was broadcast on the BBC.
