Neev (Doordarshan)

Neev (Hindi: नींव, foundation) was a TV show broadcast on Doordarshan in early 1990s.[1][2][3] The show was 13-episode long, and based on life of students in a boarding school.[2]

The show, shot in Scindia School, Gwalior, was directed by Madan Kumar and produced by Sanjay Khanna.[4][5][3] Title song of the show was Dharti par sooraj ki kirnein, sung by Amit Kumar, composed by Sapan Jagmohan and lyrics by Naqsh Layalpuri.[4][3]

Plot Summary

The television show portrayed life of students in a higher secondary boarding school (up to class XII). Headboy of the school was Rakesh Kapoor (played by Karan Apoorva). His friends were Chatterjee, a geek, and Sabby and they had a rival group with schoolmate Francis.

Satish and Anurag Sharma were newcomer students to the school. Shahnaz was their dominating classmate, whose father Mr Khan was a kind and understanding housemaster. Ali Asgar also played a student.

Lives of students, their pranks, academics, inter-house rivalry, sports, how they adjust to life in a boarding school, separation from family and other topics were covered through the show.[3]
